What should I know about hot yoga?
- Just bring yourself in comfortable, stretchy clothing. We practice in bare feet, so no need to worry about special shoes. We have all the props that you might need for class, including mats. If you have your own mat feel free to bring it! And don't forget, bring an open heart and willingness to learn something new.
Which class is best for a beginner?
- Almost all of our classes are “all levels” which means that even beginner can attend.
- On the schedule, you’ll notice a “B” beside the name of the class if it’s suitable for beginners.
- Every session, we run a course called “What the Om?” It is specially designed for beginners and will guide them in learning about various postures, breath practices, use of props any other things that will help them feel confident to try any other class on our schedule. Make sure to ask at the front desk for more details.
What other things do I need to know about practicing at Jade?
- Try your best to arrive to class 10 - 15 minutes early.
- Make sure to set your phone or other electronic device to Do Not Disturb. Better yet, leave it in your bag or coat pocket outside of the practice room.
- Please respect the practice room as a quiet space. If you are coming with a friend, please consider arriving early and enjoy our beautiful lounge space for a nice, quiet chat and cup of tea.
- If you need to leave early, please let the instructor know beforehand and leave just before Savasana or Final Rest.
How much does it cost to come to Jade Wellness Studio?
- We have a New Client Special for those who have never attended a class at Jade Wellness. You receive 3 class passes for only $20 + tax (the price of a drop in) that are good for any yoga or mat Pilates class. Take three weeks to enjoy your pass and decide if Jade is the right place for you. Use them for the same class or pick three different classes. After that, classes come in packs of 10. We also run various specials throughout the year so make sure to keep an eye on our fees page.
Do I have to book online?
- We use the MindBody app which is very handy in allowing you to check out our schedule, buy passes and sign up for class. If you would rather take care of all that in person then make sure to come into class a little early and chat with someone at the front desk. Most classes do not fill up so there is no need to sign up in advance. You will need to sign up in advance for courses however as these classes often have different fee structures and proceed based on a minimum number of participants.
What should I know about hot yoga?
- Hot Yoga classes should not be scary! Remember to hydrate throughout the day, and especially a couple hours before your hot yoga class.
- Remember to listen to your body. If the heat is getting to you, rest in child's pose, on your back or leave the room.
- Think about what issues may prevent you from thriving in a hot room. Certain medications, injuries, and other factors such as pregnancy and age may complicate vigourous activity in a hot environment. For more information, please click here.
