Leyla PennerInspired by both the philosophical and spiritual aspects of yoga, Leyla’s passion for yoga extends much deeper than the usual physical features of a typical postural yoga practice. As a teacher, Leyla aims to use a gentle and heart centred approach to lovingly guide her students into mindful awareness of their own innate body-wisdom so that they may ultimately become the source of their own healing.
Leyla’s journey as a yoga teacher began in 2013 when she travelled to Nicaragua to complete her first 200 hour teacher training in Hatha Yoga. Leyla has since gone on to complete an additional 300 hours of Shamanic yoga teacher training under Dr. Christine Selda in Squamish, BC. She has also expanded her education to include a multiplicity of studies in various healing modalities -including: Ayurveda Therapeutics, Kambo facilitation and Shamanic Medicine Wheel training. In 2017 Leyla spent an extended period of time residing in India where she deepened her studies and knowledge in Kriya Yoga, meditation and Ayurvedic healing. Leyla considers herself a lifelong student of yoga, spirituality and energy medicine as a whole. She sees yoga as a profound resource and remedy for the disconnection we so often feel from ourselves, one another and the world at large. Through her classes, Leyla hopes to offer her students a lived experience of the healing power of yoga, so that the skills cultivated in class may serve each one of us in our day-to-day lives and through whatever challenges life may bring. “Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu” - May all beings everywhere be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness and to that freedom for all. |
